A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has described the proposed Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket as a “healing ticket” for the country.
Galadima spoke on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He said the ticket, if elected in 2027, would bring the much-needed healing to Nigeria.
He explained that members of the Kwankwasiyya movement partnered with the Obidient Movement because they believe the alliance can rebuild trust among Nigerians.
“It is our belief that this is the only ticket that can salvage Nigeria. Not only salvage it, but it is a ticket we call the ‘healing ticket,’ designed so that we can forget the past,” he said.
“Peter Obi has agreed that if he becomes the President of Nigeria, he will not only address these three issues personally, but he will make us part of those who will work on these issues.”
Galadima said Obi has promised to focus on three key areas – security, agriculture and education – if elected president.
He said the combination of Kwankwaso’s formidable support in the North and Obi’s support base in the South creates a powerful coalition capable of shaking up the political landscape ahead of 2027.
He expressed confidence that Obi and Kwankwaso would win the election if it is free and fair, unless someone tries to change it.
He accused President Bola Tinubu of mobilising academics for political endorsement, alleging that “Tinubu has assembled 600 professors in Kaduna to declare support for him.”
He added: “And I want to tell Amupitan (INEC Chairman) that none of those professors should be appointed in the election for supporting a candidate.”
Galadima also took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said: “Atiku was in charge of privatisation and sold our companies. In 2023 he was the first person to please America and said he would sell NNPC and its subsidiaries to his friends.”
He insisted that only the Obi/Kwankwaso alliance can salvage and heal the country.
