The opposition All Progressives Congress in Osun State has dismissed allegations by the Accord Party that it is plotting to cause crisis in the state using a factional leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW, Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba.
It would be recalled that Accord Party Chairman in the state, Pastor Victor Akande, had on Sunday accused the APC of conniving with the National President of the NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, to violently take over motor parks in the state, describing Oluomo as the mastermind of the plot.
The party while reacting through a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, said it has no business in the running of the NURTW, as such role is not captured in any provision of the party’s constitution.
The APC argued that the 1999 Constitution as amended does not empower any state government to dabble into the affairs of the NURTW, describing such action as meddlesome interloping.
It urged members of the public and the police to disregard the allegations by Accord, describing them as frivolous, reckless, diversionary and without proof.
The opposition party said if there is any ploy to breach the peace of the state, the state government and the ruling Accord Party, who are illegally dabbling into NURTW affairs, should be held responsible.
