Police recover second corpse at Ile-Ife garage violence as Emir is buried in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of another dead body at Mayfair Garage, Ile-Ife, following the violent clash which occurred on Sunday.

It would be recalled that an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Olalekan Oyeyemi, was shot dead at the garage by suspected hoodlums.

Providing an update on Monday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that another corpse was recovered at the garage.

Ojelabi said the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, adding that the police will ensure those involved in the incident are brought to book.

He said, “The governor has decided that the park should not operate. The park has not been operating. Another corpse was recovered by the police, and it has been deposited at the morgue.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more investigation. The Commissioner of Police has promised that all those involved will be apprehended and face the law, irrespective of who they are.”

Ojelabi also urged those alleged to be involved in the killings to report to the nearest police station rather than going on social media to explain their side of the story.

“As many as those are being mentioned, they should go to the nearest Police station to report themselves rather than going to social media to defend themselves,” he added.

Meanwhile, Oyeyemi was buried at his house in the Agunbeelewo area of Osogbo on Monday afternoon amidst a tense atmosphere.
