The Osun State Police Command has launched investigation into the killing of Mr. Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as “Emir Ajagungbade,” who was shot in Ile-Ife on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the Command was alerted to an incident around Energy Filling Station in Ile-Ife, after which operatives were immediately deployed to restore normalcy, secure the scene, and begin investigations.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Olalekan Oyeyemi aka Emir was shot,” the statement said.
The Command said it is working to unravel both the immediate and remote causes of the shooting, identify those responsible, and bring all persons found culpable to justice.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, psc (+), mnips, strongly condemned the act. He urged residents not to take the law into their own hands or engage in reprisal attacks, violence, or destruction of property.
The CP also called on residents of Ile-Ife and across the state to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperate with the Police by providing useful information that may assist the investigation.
“The Osun State Police Command assures the people of the State of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and public order,” Ojelabi stated, adding that the Command extends its condolences to the immediate family and friends of the deceased.
