The National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Diran Odeyemi, has declared that the political arrangement between the PDP and the Accord Party in Osun State ended with the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the last August 15 governorship poll.
Odeyemi said the PDP is now set to mobilize fully for its own candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by the incumbent Senator representing Osun Central, Olubiyi Fadeyi, on Friday, Odeyemi explained that during the governorship election, the PDP deployed its structure to support Governor Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party.
“The agreement between the party and Accord ended with the Governorship election and now the party is ready to support and work for Senator Ajagunla during the 2027 poll,” Odeyemi said.
He affirmed that Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla remains the PDP candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District in 2027, and charged party members to begin mobilization for him.
“In the Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla is our Candidate and the PDP will Campaign and work with him,” he added.
Odeyemi further noted that the understanding with Accord was strictly for the governorship election.
“The arrangement we had with Accord in Osun has ended with Governor Adeleke’s election,” he stated.
Speaking on the Accord candidate for Osun Central, Gani Olaoluwa, Odeyemi said, “Gani Olaoluwa, the Accord Party Senatorial candidate for Osun Central is my very good friend. I have nothing against him, but, this is a party Affairs. I have been informed as the National Treasurer of the PDP to deliver for the party.”
He also said PDP candidates across Osun State are ready to commence campaign activities ahead of the 2027 polls.
