The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, has said the future of Osun State is inseparably linked to the quality of education and human capital that the institution produces.
Prof. Asaolu spoke on Wednesday during a thanksgiving celebration organized by staff of the University to mark the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Corporate Services and Information Unit, Babatunde Fanawopo, the VC said the Adeleke administration had shown a clear understanding of the strategic role of education in shaping the future of the state.
He appreciated the Governor for the support extended to UNILESA since the inception of his administration, noting that the backing was particularly critical to the institution because of its status as a young and rapidly growing university.
“The future of Osun State is inseparably linked to the quality of education and human capital the University develops today,” Prof. Asaolu stated.
He commended Governor Adeleke for recognizing UNILESA as a key partner in the state’s development agenda, and assured that the University would continue to justify the confidence reposed in it through quality teaching, research, innovation and the production of graduates capable of driving national development.
The VC called for a stronger partnership between the University and the State Government during the Governor’s second term, expressing optimism that sustained support would enable the institution to attain greater heights. He prayed for God’s wisdom, good health and divine guidance for the Governor.
Speaking on behalf of Staff Representatives, Mr. Abiodun Adeleke listed key interventions of the administration that prompted the celebration.
He cited the payment of 30 months’ outstanding peculiar allowance owed to staff who transited from the former Osun State College of Education, the conversion of 230 temporary staff to permanent staff, regular and timely promotions, improved remuneration for academic staff, and the tarring of the University’s internal roads.
“We have seen the support, experienced the interventions, felt the impacts and sincerely appreciate the government,” he said.
