2027: APC scribe Basiru visits Adeleke, seeks support for Tinubu’s re-election

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Sunday visited Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State to congratulate him on his August 15 election victory and seek support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Senator Basiru, during the visit to the Government House, Osogbo, said the governor’s support would be crucial to the success of the 2027 presidential election in the state.

The APC scribe said that though he campaigned against Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, he accepted the outcome as a democrat.

“I must also come as a Democrat to congratulate you on your election, and I must say that I did not want you to win. In fact, I wanted Bola Oyebamiji to win that election. He was my candidate that I voted for.

“But as I said, God is the one who gives power to whoever He wants. As a student of Bola Tinubu, we are democrats, and we must also, at every point in time, recognise that in a democratic contest, one must win, and the struggle continues,” Basiru said.

Speaking on 2027, Basiru thanked the governor for endorsing President Tinubu in January, noting that there were expectations he would
renege after his victory.

“The re-election of President Tinubu is very crucial to me as a party administrator, and whatever is necessary to be done to ensure that is what I am after. We also have a base. To win 46% in the election is not easy. I look forward to you delivering for us with our support,” he said.
