The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has launched a tracking exercise for Federal Government-funded projects worth over N1 billion in Osun State.
This was disclosed by the team lead, Mary Oke, in Osogbo, saying the exercise is aimed at ensuring proper execution and value for money on public projects.
Oke said the monitoring will cover the three senatorial districts of the state: Osun Central, Osun East, and Osun West.
She listed the projects to include road construction, solar-powered street lights, skill acquisition and empowerment programmes.
The commission will also track grants given to vulnerable groups such as widows, persons with disabilities and the elderly, as well as the construction of community halls and renovation of community libraries.
According to her, the exercise is part of ICPC’s mandate to promote accountability and transparency in government project implementation.
“The ICPC is in another phase of its constituency project tracking exercise in the state.
“The exercise, which includes assessing the status of various constituency projects, is also to ensure that public resources are judiciously utilised to deliver quality infrastructure and services to citizens,” she said.
Oke urged community members and civil society organisations to support the tracking by providing relevant information to aid the commission.
She also called on communities to protect completed projects from vandalism, stressing that citizens have a responsibility to safeguard public facilities.
