Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said he bears no grudge against his political opponents, declaring that the certificate of return issued to him belongs to the people of Osun State.
Adeleke spoke in Osogbo on Wednesday while receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after his re-election in last Saturday’s governorship poll.
“God has fought my battles for me, and so I hold unto God throughout the duration of the political war and now that I have been re-elected.
“I hold no grudge against my adversaries. Today is a day of gratitude, reflection and, above all, appreciation for the people of Osun State who stood firm for democracy.”
The governor described the certificate as a mandate from the people, not for him alone.
“This certificate does not belong to Ademola Adeleke alone. It belongs to the people of Osun State, the market men and women, workers, youths, traditional and religious leaders, and every citizen who demonstrates that our democracy cannot be intimidated, purchased or suppressed,” he said.
He commended INEC and security agencies for the conduct of the election, noting that the election day went violence-free.
