Adeleke seeks arrest of Senator Fadahunsi over threat video

Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for the immediate arrest and investigation of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral video in which the lawmaker representing Osun East allegedly threatened to kill Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

In a video circulating online, the lawmaker during a protest to the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Adesuyi Haastrup, alleged the Accord Party of killing members of the All Progressives Congress in Ijesaland.

He said: “How many people have you seen the APC kill? We are here to tell you that until the day of the election, if we see any Accord member in Ilesa, we will kill him.”

Addressing journalists at Government House, Osogbo on Tuesday, Adeleke described the remarks as beyond politics and a national security threat requiring the attention of President Bola Tinubu through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

He said, “I have raised this issue with the IGP and demanded the immediate investigation and arrest of Senator Fadahunsi. The IGP has confirmed the video and assured of immediate action.

“We ask that the police and the DSS immediately arrest Senator Fadahunsi for his incitement to genocide against the people of Ijesahland and Osun State. This is to prove to the world that Nigeria is a state governed by the rule of law.”
