The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said the people of Osun have decided to vote for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s governorship election, arguing that the state needs a government that will ensure value for money in the management of public resources.
The National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, stated this on Monday while speaking on TVC’s Beyond the Headline, noting that the APC has mobilised across the 332 wards, 30 local governments and 3,890 polling units in the state ahead of the August 15 poll.
“The truth is that the people of Osun have decided to go by the way of ensuring that we have value for money. And the way we want to have value for money is to go to the poll on Saturday and elect the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji,” Basiru said.
He described Oyebamiji as an experienced public officer with more than two decades of experience in the private sector and also more than a decade of experience in the public sector.
Speaking on the current administration, the APC scribe said the last three years of Governor Ademola Adeleke have not brought all-round development and meaningful utilisation of the resources of the people of Osun for development.
Basiru cited the increased federal allocations to states under the macroeconomic policy of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the distributable pool stood at N2.2 trillion in April 2026, N2.3 trillion in May and N2.5 trillion in June.
Questioning the impact of the funds in Osun, Basiru said, “The question you ask yourself today is: where are those resources going in terms of having a meaningful impact on the people of Osun in terms of infrastructure development.”
He listed bad roads, teacher shortages in schools, and neglect of the health sector as evidence of failure.
According to him, there is a deficit of no less than 28,000 personnel in the education sector, while the health sector has also deteriorated under the current administration.
On infrastructure, he faulted the construction of flyovers where there are no traffic jams and where it does not resonate with the economic development of our people, describing it as cosmetic infrastructure.
He said the agricultural and tourism sectors are in a comatose state and promised that an APC government would re-fertilise them.
“We are coming to give them a glimmer of hope from the doldrums of the present administration,” Basiru said.
“We are also mobilising, organising, and educating the electorate to come out en masse to vote for our party and our candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, on Saturday with a promise of a re-energised and revitalised Osun State.”
