August 15: INEC extends PVC collection in Osun

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has extended PVC collection at the Registration Area level in Osun State to Friday, July 31, 2026.

The extension, according to the Commission, was to allow more voters to pick up their cards ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement signed by the Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, INEC said the extension followed complaints and large crowds recorded at collection centres during the first phase.

The Commission also disclosed that 322,822 PVCs, representing 62% of the available cards, were collected between Wednesday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

“Having regard to complaints and large crowds at collection centres as well as other difficulties, the Commission has approved the extension of PVC collection at Registration Areas to Friday, 31st July, 2026 to enable more eligible voters to exercise their civic right,” the statement said.

INEC noted that the extension is without prejudice to collection at the Local Government Area level, which will now run from Friday, August 1 to Friday, August 7, 2026.
