The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has scheduled a mock accreditation exercise for Saturday, August 1, 2026, in selected polling units across Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the Head of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, INEC said the exercise is to test its operational readiness and the efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.
The Commission clarified that no voting will take place during the mock exercise, which is only meant to simulate Election Day accreditation procedures.
INEC listed the selected LGAs as Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun and Boripe in Osun Central; Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade and Obokun in Osun East; and Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo in Osun West.
The commission urged registered voters in the selected polling units to participate, stressing that only holders of valid Permanent Voter Cards would be accredited.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive governorship election, and thanked residents, political parties, CSOs and the media for their cooperation.
