The immediate past speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has urged electorates in the state to reject apathy in the August 15 governorship election, saying silence in the face of poor governance is fuelling hardship and eroding democracy in the state.
Owoeye, who is the Co-Chairman of the AMBO Campaign Council and the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ilesa East State Constituency in 2027, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday.
He attributed the rising insecurity, youth unemployment, decay in public services, corruption and general hardship in Osun to failed leadership under the current administration.
“It’s time to shun indifference and reject Ademola Adeleke’s ineffective style of governance. I enjoin the electorate to embrace Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji’s agenda for a progressive and prosperous Osun,” the APC chieftain said.
The former Speaker warned that voter apathy only creates room for further societal decay.
Quoting civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King Jr., he said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
Owoeye expressed confidence that Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance, has the capacity to drive real change and reposition Osun among economically self-reliant states.
He described Oyebamiji’s manifesto as a “prosperity agenda” that will address the economic and social challenges confronting residents across the state.
The AMBO Campaign Council Co-Chair called on voters across Osun, particularly in Ilesa East, to come out en masse and deliver a decisive mandate for the APC candidate in order to usher in a new era of progress.
