Governor Ademola Adeleke has said his administration is building roads and bridges without mortgaging the future of the younger generation.
The Governor spoke at the inauguration of the 672-meter Lameco Flyover.
Speaking at the commissioning of the flyover on Wednesday in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke said the project is one of several mega projects started and completed by his administration as part of its drive to rebuild the state through infrastructure.
According to the Governor, the project is not isolated. It is part of several other mega projects.
“This is part of our administration’s promise to rebuild Osun through infrastructure that touches everybody’s life – roads, bridges, health, education and water”, he said.
He added that the project and many others were awarded in line with global standards to ensure accountability without compromising quality.
“We implemented this and other mega projects in accordance with due process, transparency and without mortgaging the future of our children. The high quality of this flyover confirms the workability of our local content model. We have proven to the whole world that our local engineers can perform to world-class standards. The Lameco Flyover is proof that when resources and people are well managed, good governance is the outcome.
“I am glad to bring to our attention that our administration has completed over 27 km of intracity roads in Osogbo. Across the state, we have executed over 300 kilometres of roads. We have completed over 10 mega projects and have them ready for commissioning. We positively touch all major towns under our motto of equity and fairness in infrastructure innovation”, he said.
In his remarks, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, commended the Governor for siting the project in a strategic part of the town, saying it will not only ease the movement of road users but also further enhance the socio-economic activities of the town.
The construction of the Lameco flyover began in October 2023 as part of the administration’s N100 billion special infrastructure projects.
