The leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State.
The courtesy call, according to a statement by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Corporate Service and Information Unit of the university, Babatunde Fanowopo, was to strengthen ties for professional development.
Led by its Registrar/Chief Executive, Dr Taiwo Ganiyat Olusesi, the delegation conferred membership status on the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Taiwo Asaolu.
Dr Olusesi commended Unilesa for subscribing to NIM membership, describing it as a strategic move for both institutions.
“The University’s affiliation with the Institute represents a right step in the right direction that would facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in the areas of professional training and capacity development for staff as well as innovative revenue-generation initiatives,” she said.
She praised Professor Asaolu for his performance at NIM’s maiden Leadership Training Programme in The Gambia, where the VC’s contribution stood out. Based on that, NIM has invited him to facilitate at the next edition in Ethiopia.
“The Vice Chancellor’s exemplary contribution at the leadership training had informed the Institute’s decision to invite him as one of the facilitators at the next edition of the programme scheduled to hold in Ethiopia,” Dr Olusesi disclosed.
The NIM boss noted the Institute’s growing reach, with over 200,000 individual members and 400 corporate members nationwide.
She said NIM remains committed to advancing management excellence through partnerships with universities and corporate bodies.
Responding, Professor Asaolu welcomed the delegation and said the collaboration aligns with UNILESA’s philosophy of going beyond classroom teaching.
“The University of Ilesa firmly believes that education must extend beyond the classroom. We actively promote professional certification alongside academic training to equip graduates with the requisite skills, competence and competitive advantage needed in today’s dynamic labour market,” he said.
