A former Commissioner for Youth and Sports under ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Mr Yemi Lawal, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress with immediate effect.
Olayemi announced his exit in a resignation letter dated June 15, 2026, addressed to the APC leadership in Osun State.
He said the decision followed wide consultations with family, political associates, leaders of thought, and other stakeholders.
Lawal expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunities he enjoyed as a member.
He thanked the party and its leadership for allowing him to serve and participate in its activities.
However, he accused the party of subjecting him, some leaders, and followers to political persecution over time.
According to him, the experience exposed the APC’s inability to accommodate differing views.
“The treatment showed that the APC lacked the required skill to manage diverse opinions on issues,” Lawal stated in the letter.
