Adeleke’s campaign council accuses Osun APC of spreading falsehood

Imole Campaign Council, the re-election organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of spreading falsehood and misinformation against the governor.

It alleged that the state’s main opposition party has abandoned issue-based electioneering for what it described as fabricated stories, blackmail, and intimidation tactics.

Spokesman for the council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, dismissed the allegation by APC that Adeleke used state security votes for personal or family interests, describing it as “mischievous” and politically motivated.

Olajengbesi clarified in a statement yesterday that Adeleke has maintained transparency in the management of public funds since assuming office in 2022.

According to him, the governor has consistently deployed available resources to strengthen security across the state rather than for personal gain.

He also rejected claims that the state-backed Amotekun Corps was being used to protect family businesses, maintaining that the administration has invested heavily in improving the capacity of the security outfit.

The campaign spokesman cited the construction of a new operational headquarters for the corps, the recruitment of more than 1,100 additional cadets, and the provision of operational vehicles and motorcycles as evidence of the government’s commitment to internal security.

Olajengbesi further claimed that the Adeleke administration had prioritised workers’ welfare, noting that salaries of civil servants and Amotekun personnel had been paid regularly.

He also referenced a fiscal transparency assessment by BudgIT Nigeria, which he said rated the administration highly for accountability and prudent management of public resources.

The campaign council spokesman accused opposition figures of attempting to distract the Amotekun Corps from its responsibilities through what it described as politically- motivated attacks.

Olajengbesi expressed confidence that residents of Osun State would judge the administration based on its performance in office, particularly in infrastructure development and governance, ahead of the next governorship election.
