August 15: Release voters’ register for all political parties – Adeleke campaign council tells Osun REC

The Civil Society Engagement Sub-Committee of the Imole Campaign Council has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State to immediately release the voters’ register to all political parties in the state.

The committee, in a statement by its chairman, Funmiso Babarinde, said that transparency in the electoral process requires every party to be given access to verify the list.

Babarinde, criticised what he called a growing and suspicious relationship between the opposition party and the Resident Electoral Commissioner.

“We are aware of the reported meeting between the opposition party and the REC. “We challenge the Osun REC to address this explosive leak.”

He said the only way to dispel public suspicion was for the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun to release the current voters’ register without delay.

“Democracy thrives on openness. We demand immediate release of the voters’ register so all political parties can verify the list across the state,” Babarinde added.

The statement warned that any attempt to manipulate the register would undermine public confidence in the upcoming elections and could trigger avoidable political tension.

It urged civil society organisations, the media, and other stakeholders to join in monitoring the process to ensure fairness and credibility.
