The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has described the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as someone who is not ready to lead the country.
Basiru, while appearing on TVC’s Beyond the Headlines programme, said Obi, in his political journey, has shown incompetence and a lack of leadership quality.
He also said Obi should stop attributing his constant change of political parties to the APC, adding that the former Anambra State Governor is nomadic in nature when it comes to politics.
The APC national scribe, referring to the words of the spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, after Obi defected from the party to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress, said, “Bolaji Abdullahi said Peter Obi does not know about ADC, its manifesto and ideology. If the party that he just left described him in that regard, for you to now bring in the APC into his nomadic nature in terms of politics.”
He added, “The questions that Nigerians should ask Peter Obi is that when he left APGA, PDP and the Labour parties, was it the APC that pursued him? This is someone who abandoned the political party that gave him some leverage.
“The truth is that Peter Obi is not even ready for internal party struggle, internal party challenges and internal party leadership, and he now says he wants to become the president.
“If he cannot even wait to build political institutions, but boasts of attaining power. Is it the person who wants to face and correct the challenges that we have?
“It shows incompetence, lack of leadership quality, resilience, commitment and dedication, which are parts of the hallmark of leadership, and these are lacking in many politicians who call themselves opposition in Nigeria.”
