Muslim Omoleke, administrative secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti, was taken into a forest in neighbouring Osun state, NAN quoted a source as saying.
Omoleke was kidnapped at Iwaraja community, near Ilesa in Osun.
According to the agency, the abductors later released Omoleke’s son and his driver, who were with the victim at the time of the sad incident.
Taiwo Gbadegesin, spokesman of the commission in Ekiti, told NAN that security agencies in Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states had been informed.
Gbadegesin said the administrative secretary was returning to Ekiti after official visits to Ondo and Osun when he was abducted.
“The abductors are yet to make contact with the INEC and his (the victim’s) family,” Gbadegesin said.
