The Osun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that its Ward and Local Government Congresses will hold tomorrow, Thursday, 9th April.
The Osun ADC said the announcement was in line with the directive of the National Leadership under the Chairmanship of Senator David Mark and the National Secretary, Ogbéni Rauf Aregbesola.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission has de-recognised the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC, citing a court judgement.
However, the Osun ADC in a statement on Wednesday by the Chairman, Directorate of Media and Publicity, Abosede Oluwaseun, said the Ward and Local Government screening exercises were successfully conducted on Tuesday.
The statement further read, “In line with the approved guidelines, Ward and Local Government screening exercises were successfully conducted yesterday, while appeals arising from the screening were duly addressed today.
“Consequently, all arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the Congresses, which shall be held either through CONSENSUS, in accordance with the party’s constitution, or by direct primary where consensus is not achievable.
We therefore urge all members to assemble at their designated and accredited centres across the Local Governments to participate actively in the exercise. Members are strongly advised to conduct themselves peacefully, responsibly, and in the true spirit of democracy.
“While disagreements may arise—as is common in political processes—it is the management and resolution of such issues that define our strength as a party. Where any concern emerges, members are encouraged to promptly engage Local and State leaders for timely intervention and resolution.
Let us work together to ensure a smooth, credible, and successful Congress that will further strengthen our great party.”
