Stop blaming Tinubu for your problem – Basiru tells ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to look inward rather than blame their challenges on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, stated this on Friday while addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Basiru advised ADC leaders to focus on the pending court case concerning their leadership instead of resorting to what he described as propaganda through press conferences.

The former Senate spokesperson also questioned the ADC’s claim of being the leading opposition party, noting its poor outing in recent elections.

“As at today, there are 19 registered political parties in Nigeria with potential to compete in the 2027 election and President Tinubu has no power to deregister any political party.

“Therefore, President Bola Tinubu and indeed the All Progressives Congress cannot be bothered about the contraption of electoral unviability being bandied as a “coalition”!

”During the last FCT council poll, the party won no local government council, it won no councilorship positions. It lost the recently conducted by-elections in Rivers and Kano states. So, the party’s claim of being ‘leading opposition’ is baseless without electoral credibility or public trust.” he said.
