A diaspora-based group within the All Progressives Congress, Reformers Home and Abroad, has declared support for the party’s candidate in the 2026 Osun governorship poll, Bola Oyebamiji, and pledged to mobilise voters across the state for him.
In a statement signed by the group’s founder, Muis Kayode, and obtained in Osogbo on Thursday, he said Oyebamiji, during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom, outlined his programmes for the state.
Kayode said Oyebamiji’s plan to industrialise Osun through the provision of an enabling environment for investors to establish businesses was well received by the diaspora community.
He emphasised the availability of abundant human and material resources in the state, adding that Oyebamiji’s plan to leverage Osun’s potential in natural resources and tourism for economic growth had earned him the group’s backing.
“Osun APC governorship candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has interacted with various groups and the diaspora community to discuss his plans with the people.
“As an interested group, Reformers Home and Abroad has decided to set up campaign structures across the state for Oyebamiji. We are convinced he will make a good governor. His areas of interest and desire for all-round development of the state, maximising its potential in agriculture, natural resources and human resources, are commendable.
“We plan to move into the grassroots and build support for him towards a victorious outing in the August 15 governorship poll. We will do that by explaining his plans to the people to secure their buy-in,” Kayode said.
He assured that the APC candidate, if elected, would sustain the legacies of past progressive administrations while charting new paths of development across key sectors.
He called on the electorate to support Oyebamiji by turning out in large numbers on election day.
“Osun State requires a serious and competent manager to harness its abundant human and material resources and drive sustainable development. Oyebamiji fits the bill,” he added.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed August 15 for the governorship election in the state.
The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election.
Besides Oyebamiji of the APC, 12 other political parties are fielding candidates in the election.
