Osun East: Famurewa resigns from appointment, joins Fadahunsi, Ogungbangbe in race for APC ticket

The former lawmaker who represented Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has reportedly resigned his position as a member of the Governing Council of Federal College of Education, Iwo to contest for a seat in the Senate.

In the letter which surfaced online and dated March 30, Famurewa stated that he had resigned in line with the President’s directive regarding the 2027 general election contest.

He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for allowing him to serve on the council of the College.

“I humbly write to tender my resignation as a Member of the Federal College of Education, Iwo Governing Council with effect from today
30th March, 2026 in line with Mr. President’s directive on the 2027 general election contest.

“I want to sincerely appreciate Mr President for giving me the opportunity to serve on the council of the College.

Famurewa would be contesting the Osun East senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress with the incumbent Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Mr Thomas Ogungbange.

Senator Fadahunsi who joined the APC in 2025 from the Peoples Democratic Party, has indicated interest in returning to the Red Chamber in 2027.

Famurewa has held several public offices, including serving as Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
