The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi and the lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Lukman Mudashiru, on Monday, held a meeting where they closed ranks and resolved their differences.
It would be recalled that the monarch on Friday, in a statement, barred Mudasiru from entering the palace, noting that the lawmaker has not done much for the Iwo Traditional Council since he was elected.
However, the lawmaker during the meeting facilitated by the President, Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT), Professor Lai Olurode, resolved his differences with the monarch.
The lawmaker in a statement issued after the meeting, a copy obtained in Osogbo, said Oluwo mentioned that he had banned him from the palace because some people had instigated him against the monarch.
He, however, said the monarch commended some of his federal-funded programmes, including multimillion-naira college and university scholarships for indigent students.
He said, “In the spirit of communal development, Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT) President, Professor Olurode facilitated a meeting between Hon. Mudashiru and the revered monarch in his glamorous beautiful palace hall.
“During the fruitful discussion, Oba Akanbi commended the lawmaker, stating that he had been following some of his federal-funded programmes, including multimillion-naira college and university scholarships for indigent students, infrastructure development at the Federal College of Education in Iwo, road constructions, streetlight installations, purchase of a vehicle for the Office of Chief Imam of Iwoland.
“However, Oluwo mentioned that he heard some people had instigated the lawmaker against him and that was why he decided to invoke the ban,” the statement noted.
The lawmaker noted he clarified the situation with the monarch, adding that, “Oluwo is a monarch I respect and admire a lot. Nobody could instigate him against the monarch.”
The statement added that Oluwo thereafter, commiserated with the lawmaker on the demise of his mother who died last week and prayed for her soul to rest in peace.
