A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff, has declared his ambition to contest for the Osun Central Senatorial ticket under the Accord Party.
The Ilobu-born politician made this known when he paid a consultative visit to the leadership and stakeholders of Odo-Otin Local Government on Wednesday.
Addressing party leaders and community stakeholders, Yussuff commended the leadership of Odo-Otin for their political maturity and candour, stating that while he recognises their natural support for their son, Aremo Adekunle Alao who is also contesting the ticket, the moment calls for broader consideration for effective and experienced representation.
“This is the time for Lasun to represent the good people of Osun Central,” he stated.
Reflecting on his political journey, Yussuff highlighted his wealth of experience, having contested multiple times and contributed to landmark judicial precedents in Nigeria’s electoral process.
He stressed that representation goes beyond occupying office, noting that many elected officials fail to deliver tangible benefits to their constituents.
“I never mortgaged my integrity while in office, and that is why I was able to attract meaningful development projects across my federal constituency. Experience matters, and I understand what it takes to deliver for our people,” he added.
He further emphasised the importance of active civic engagement, urging constituents to channel their requests through constituency offices, which is a must. “If your representative does not respond within a reasonable time, then such a person is not truly representing you. Lawmaking is driven by the people through their inputs,” he said.
