Eid-el-Fitr: Ataoja bans political cloths, banners, posters at prayer grounds

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has banned the hoisting of political banners and the wearing of clothes or caps with party logos and emblems during tomorrow’s Eid prayer across the town.

The monarch who made the announcement through the Asiwaju of Osogbo land, Justice Moshood Adeigbe Rtd, also banned political discussions at Eid prayer grounds.

Oba Oyetunji said the ban became imperative following a meeting between the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun, security agencies and representatives of political parties in Osun State.

Ataoja warned that security agencies have been instructed not to hesitate to take appropriate measures against any deviant act capable of breaching the prevailing peace in the capital city.

“All Muslims attending Eid-el-Fitr this year in Osogbo must ensure that they do not wear clothes or caps with emblems of political parties, posters, or engage in political discussions at the Eid ground. We are also banning drummers from the Eid grounds.

“This instruction became necessary following the meeting between the Chief Imam of Osogbo, security agencies, representatives of political parties and groups under the leadership of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji.

“The announcement is effective in all the Eid praying grounds in Osogbo and anybody who goes contrary will be arrested by the security agents. We wish everyone a fruitful Eid,” the monarch noted.
