Osun Police identify driver killed by customs officers as probe begins

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the identity of the driver who was shot dead allegedly by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service along Osogbo-Iwo road on Sunday.

The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, while providing an update on the matter on Monday, said the deceased was a 41-year-old Delta indigene, Anayo Azikwe Micheal.

Ojelabi also said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident have begun.

According to him, “The deceased person was from Delta State. His name is Anayo Azikwe Micheal (41). The family of the deceased are on their way to Osun but some Customs bosses have come and we are still on the matter. We will conclude investigation between today and tomorrow.

“The two suspects are still with the police. We are also subjecting the police officers at the scene to investigation for us to verify. We won’t leave any stone unturned.”
