The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arraigned an 88-year-old man, identified as Adepoju, before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo over allegations bordering on conspiracy, forgery of documents for land sale, false declaration, and threat to life in the Idominasi Community of the State.
The suspect, who was arraigned on a two-count charge, pleaded not guilty and was subsequently remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ilesa, pending trial.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, Kehinde Adeleke, a discreet investigation conducted by the Command revealed that the suspect allegedly sold one acre of land to a buyer who later discovered that the documents presented for the transaction were not genuine.
The state commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed that the buyer reportedly paid additional money in an attempt to authenticate the ownership of the land.
Further findings from the investigation also indicated that the suspect does not possess valid documents backing his own residential property located in Idominasi Town, Osun State.
Commandant Sotiyo stated that the investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly caused disturbance and threatened members of the public with dangerous weapons, thereby creating tension within the community.
While giving his statement, the suspect claimed he is a chief in Idominasi and he had the power of attorney to sell the land. He explained that he mistakenly encroached on the land in question.
Upon the expiration of the investigation, the suspect was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo on Friday, 6th March 2026.
The Presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Ayilara held that the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 9(1) of the State of Osun Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation of Landed Property (Prohibition) Law, 2019.
