Modakeke-born legendary former Super Eagles coach, High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, is dead.
Onigbinde who was the Otun Balogun of Modakeke died on Monday evening.
High Chief Onigbinde made history as the first indigenous Nigerian to coach the Super Eagles, a milestone that etched his name permanently in the annals of Nigerian football.
Mrs Bolade Adesuyi, in a statement released on behalf of the family, expressed deep gratitude to God for the impactful and fulfilled life he lived.
“We thank God for a life well spent and for his immense contributions to the Nigerian nation and the world as an exceptional football coach,” the statement read.
The family prayed that his soul would rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
