The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to immortalise the legacy of former chairman of Irewole Local Government, Mr Remi Abass, by promoting a violence-free political space and ensuring good governance in Osun State.
osun.life reports that Abass was killed during the February 17, 2025, mayhem over the control of local government secretariats between supporters of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking on Thursday, in Ikire at the one-year memorial symposium for the late Irewole Local Government Chairman, Oyebamiji said the APC will ensure the deceased’s memory inspires a new wave of leadership committed to the progress of Osun.
Others who attended the programme include the former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, a former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Prince Adebayo Adeleke and other top APC leaders.
The event also drew Muslim clerics, fellow council chairmen, family members, and associates, who recalledAbass’s’ impactful life and legacy.
