The lawmaker representing Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Olusoji Adetunji, has distributed solar home systems to members of his constituency.
The initiative, under a renewable energy empowerment programme, according to a statement from his media office, included the distribution of solar panels and backup battery generators.
The empowerment was implemented through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as part of efforts to boost economic activities and improve access to sustainable energy in the Southwest region.
The statement noted that Adetunji while speaking at the event, said the initiative was driven by his commitment to expanding access to reliable power supply, supporting small businesses, and improving household productivity in the face of persistent electricity challenges.
He noted that access to affordable energy remains critical to economic growth.
In his remarks, the Director of Rural Electrification Agency, Mr Dolapo Boyeji, urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity by putting the solar systems to productive use.
He emphasised that the project was designed to enhance living standards and promote self-sufficiency through renewable energy.
