Osun workers to sue consultant for declaring them non-existent – Govt

The Osun State Government on Saturday said public servants who were declared ghost workers by Sally Tibbot Limited have resolved to drag the company to court for allegedly defaming their careers of several decades.

In a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, the state government said the workers across various agencies decried the defamation and character assassination the consultant allegedly perpetrated by declaring them as ghost workers, vowing to seek redress in the court of law.

It would be recalled that the Executive Chairman of Sally Tibbot Consulting Limited, Sa’adat Bakrin-Ottun, during a press conference on Friday, alleged that the Osun state government is harbouring and covering 8,452 ghost workers in her employment.

Alimi noted that the workers were furious that the company was still referring to them as ghost workers after they had shown up for verification and had been duly captured.

“The workers blamed the consultant for messing up the staff audit by her maltreatment of workers and her inhuman treatment of many top civil servants, as well as her refusal to decentralise the auditing exercise, accusing her of coming for the contract with an ulterior motive to defraud the state and tarnish the image of the state government.

“The workers affected included the Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University, staff of polytechnics, several top professors, Deans, and provosts, among others. More than ten agencies alongside several tertiary institutions were not covered, and workers in those agencies were declared ghost workers,” the Commissioner stated.
