Osun varsity VC tasks staff to redouble efforts for better productivity

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Asaolu, has promised that the management of the institution will continue to prioritise staff welfare.

This was, as he said, the management has set out to achieve its 2026 target for the university.

The VC stated this on Monday while addressing the staff of the university after an inter-religious prayer session to start the new year.

Asaolu, however, charged the staff to redouble their efforts towards achieving the 2026 goal of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor said, “The university management has sustained the subsidised staff bus scheme, payment of the hazard allowance to staff and several staff enjoyed sponsorship to conferences, higher
degrees, IBR, etc.

“Staff who have biological children continue to enjoy discounted
school fees i.e. 50%. Office equipment such as furniture items, electronic items is
regularly being provided to staff to make the work environment
conducive.

“The issue of the Staff Club is being looked into. By the grace of God, it will be up and running this year. The University is up-to-date in the payment of salaries of the visiting
lecturers, contract Staff, etc.”

Speaking on the achievements recorded in 2025, Asaolu said the university added 30 new programmes with the addition of the College of Health Sciences and some faculties.

He also said the university obtained full NUC accreditation for 23 programmes, adding that the school is awaiting the result for other programmes.

He added, “Addition of 30 programmes thereby taking our programmes to a total of 97. The College of Health Science was established. The Faculty of Agriculture. The Faculty of STL and the Faculty of Public Health were established.

“The University obtained full NUC accreditation for 23 UNILESA programmes. Results for more programmes are being awaited. The population of our students increased to over 12.000,

“Mr Governor magnanimously approved the conversion of Ilesa General Hospital to UNILESA Teaching Hospital. More buildings were renovated, many more under renovation.”
