Ifon indigenes lament poor condition of road leading to Olufon’s palace

The National Executive and Board of Trustees of Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union, Ifon, Osun State, has lamented the neglect of the Post-Office junction, Olufon royal palace road by the state government.

The board, while acknowledging progress in infrastructural development in Osogbo, the state capital, and other places, stated that the poor state of the road in Ifon was embarrassing to the entire people of Orolu Local Government.

The group, in a communiqué signed by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Oyedeji; Alhaji Segun Adeosun (National Secretary), Dr Olusegun Oyewo (Chairman; IPU BOT) and Prince Jide Akinyooye (Secretary; IPU BOT), called for immediate attention on the abandoned road.

The group also lauded the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Peter Akinyooye, Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Olatoye Olaniyan and Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Adekunle Omoloye, for fostering peace in their domain.

“Perpetual peace has returned to the entire Irepodun and Orolu Local Government areas of Osun State. We appreciate the monarchs.”

The group, however, urged the state government to release the White Paper on the report of the 100-man committee on Ifon/ Ilobu & Boundary Dispute Resolution.

“The release of the expected White Paper will promote public confidence in transparency, accountability, policy guidance and engagement of the concerned stakeholders towards lasting resolution on communal clashes.”
