Bamidele Salam tackles Wole Oke over post on Accord Party

By Tunde Olamilekan

The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo and Egbedore Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam, has tackled his colleague, Wole Oke over a post he made, asking the Independent National Electoral Commission to deregister the Accord Party.

Oke, who is representing Obokun, Oriade Federal Constituency, had in a post on his Facebook page asked the INEC to deregister the Accord Party because the party has no elected officials in any office in Nigeria.

Oke in the post, made reference to section 225A and 84 (16) of the Electoral Act 2022.

osun.life reports that Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will be seeking re-election under the Accord Party after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Reacting to Oke, Salam in another Facebook post said the Electoral Act 2022 does not have a section 225A and 84 (16).

The Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker asked Oke to apologise publicly for posting falsehoods, accusing him of making decent people afraid to join politics.

He wrote, “Dear Ẹ̀gbọ́n Oluwole Oke, Oluwole Oke. I put it to you that the Electoral Act 2022 does NOT have a section 225 A and 84 (16) as indicated in this your mischievous post on your Facebook page.

“As a lawmaker who has been in Parliament for over 20 years, you owe the Public an apology for posting this falsehood and nonsensical proposition only because you now belong to a clique that is afraid of a free and fair contest for Public office.

“It is people like you that is making decent people afraid of joining politics and painting all politicians as ungodly, desperate and selfish people. This is not Honourable at all, sir.”
