The wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs Titilola Adeleke on Tuesday, gave the sum of N200,00 each to 250 elderly people in the state.
The programme with the theme, “Finding Joy in Old Age”, is the third edition of the Elders Support Scheme from the office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The gesture was to ensure that elderly citizens in each state of the federation live with dignity and joy, in a nation that genuinely cares for its own.
Speaking at the programme held at the Osun State Government House, Mrs Adeleke eulogised the elders for their admirable and selfless contributions to the development of their various communities, and the nation-building journey.
The Osun First Lady said the scheme supports Two Hundred and Fifty (250) vulnerable elderly citizens aged 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, and veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA).
“Each of the 250 beneficiaries received Two Hundred Thousand (#200,000), with the sole aim to support them to live a fulfilled and dignified life, especially at old age,” she noted.
