FORMER Governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday said that despite mass defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) by PDP governors, Nigerians would determine the outcome of 2027 general elections.
Speaking while unveiling the ADC National Contact and Mobilization Office in Jos, Plateau State, El Rufai stated that ADC had what it takes to unite the people of the state if the party comes into power in 2027.
“I know that everyone is tired of these APC and PDP governments across the country. Everyone is looking up to ADC to save Nigeria. Governors from PDP are decamping to APC, but Nigerians are defecting to ADC. By God’s grace, 239 million Nigerians will defeat 25 governors.
“Nigerians have decided that in 2027, they will vote for ADC. What is ahead of us is to unite and bring all party members together. To bring our very good candidates and good policies that will help all Nigerians. All of you here have a role to play. ADC is the only party that reserved 40 per cent of leadership positions for the youth and 35 per cent of leadership positions for women. It is a party for young people and women, “the former governor said.
El-Rufai stated that Plateau State can overcome its challenges and ugly incidents and bring about positive change if the right party and persons are elected.
The ADC chieftain, who called on the residents of the state to support ADC in 2027, added that there’s still hope for the nation if Nigerians are ready to enthrone good and sincere leadership, saying that ADC will not disappoint Nigerians if voted into power.
“40 years ago, I was visiting Plateau every week because my fiancé did her National Youth Service here in Jos. Even after marriage we visit Jos regularly for weekends. But since then, things have gone in the wrong direction in Jos and Plateau State.
“I hope with better leadership at the state and national level, we will be able to unite people of Plateau State across ethnic and religious lines so that Plateau State can be that Home of Peace and tourism that we have known it to be. We pray God gives us the ability to unite you,” he added.
He said ADC is ready to change the ugly narrative in the country and properly reposition the country and vowed that with the support of the people in the state, ADC will defeat the ruling APC in the next general elections.
Plateau State coordinator of the ADC contact and mobilisation, Hon. Jamilu Lawandi Datti, said Nigerian youths are suffering from widespread unemployment, rising insecurity that threatens lives and discourages investment, and the persistent lack of quality education and healthcare, especially in rural communities, calling on the youth to support the party.
