‘Alubarika Movement’, a group loyal to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has commiserated with the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and the people of Iwoland over the fire incident that ravaged a key commercial property in the town on Wednesday.
The chairman of the caucus, Alhaji Kehinde Olamolu in a statement on Friday, said members of Alubarika Movement visited the affected location to show solidarity with victims.
The group called on the state government and relevant agencies to strengthen fire emergency response systems, improve preventive measures, and support the victims.
The statement read: “The devastation has deeply impacted traders, their families, and the broader community, and we share in the grief and disruption that the incident has caused.
“Members of the Alubarika Movement were present on site at the fire-affected location in Iwo, where they joined family members of the victims and neighbourhood stakeholders to offer words of comfort, encouragement, and practical support. During the visit, we heard the pain of affected business owners, witnessed the scale of loss, and pledged our continued assistance.
“We encourage the community to remain resilient, to support one another, and to work collectively in the rebuilding process.
“While commending the swift response of community members and local authorities, the Alubarika Movement also calls on Osun State Government and its agencies to strengthen fire emergency response systems, improve preventive measures, and support the victims to recover their livelihoods.
“The Alubarika Movement reaffirms its commitment to standing with Iwoland and the people of Iwo during this challenging period. We pledge to continue working in coordination with His Imperial Majesty’s palace, community leaders, and relevant agencies to restore normalcy, safeguard livelihoods, and safeguard the hopes of the people of Iwo.”
