The National headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party is yet to release information concerning the plans for the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.

The gubernatorial election is scheduled for August 08, 2026, with the primary election to take place between November and December according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress, early in October, announced that its primary for the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun State will hold on December 13, 2025.

The party also remarked that its nomination and expression of interest forms will go for N50 million.

In a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and issued from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the APC said the update of the membership register will run from Monday, 20th October to Friday, 31st October 2025.

“Members whose names appear on the Register and are up to date in paying their membership dues over the past year up to February 2025 will be eligible to vote and be voted for,” the statement said.

Similarly, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday, announced the date for its primary election.

The ADC said the primary election to choose the candidate of of the party will hold on December 12.

In a public notice signed by the party’s organising secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, ADC said its membership revalidation exercise will hold from November 1 – 25, 2025.

Also, the screening of aspirants will come up on November 28, while the Delegates’ election will take place between December 04 and 05.

However, the PDP who is expected to field incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is yet to announce the date for its primary.

Political observers said the development might be because of the forthcoming National convention of the PDP scheduled to take place between November 15 and 16.

It is expected that the party will release details for the primary after the convention.

However, there are fear that the convention may further divide the party as the bloc loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have distance themselves from the convention.
