Residents of Osun State have accused retailers of Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG), otherwise known as cooking gas, of inflating the price being sold to consumers.
The residents accused retailers of profiteering and price manipulation, adding that the amount gained as profit per Kilogram is too much.
osun.life reports that there has been an acute shortage of commodities, leading to increase in prices.
The medium also gathered that retailers sell between N1,600 and N1,800 per Kilogram in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Speaking with osun.life, a resident who gave his name as Muhammed, claimed that the retailers were buying the cooking gas at the rate of N1,120 from the supplier.
Muhammed urged the retailers to be considerate and pity the consumers who were already grappling with the hike in prices of other commodities.
He said, Muhammad, “The dealers are selling to retailers at the rate of N1,120. However, the retailers are selling at the rate of N1,700 to residents. The difference is too much.
“These people are making over N500 as gain for every one Kilogramme. This is too much and there should be something that will be done about it.”
