The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Nigeria Police Force to smoke out the Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Omoyele, to answer questions on the incident which occurred in Akinlalu, a town in the Ife-North Local Government Council Area of the state.
This was as the party commended the police for its proactiveness in the investigation of the extra-judicial killings of natives of the town.
Osun APC, in a statement by its director of media and information, Kola Olabisi, said Omoyele should come out to explain his part in the incident if he has nothing to hide.
The APC said, “We are imploring the Inspector-General of Police to delve into the matter and ensure that the armed political hoodlums who have been terrorising the people of the state under the nomenclature of Amotekun corps are diligently prosecuted and face the legal penalty that is commensurate with the offences committed.
“The Police should intensify their dragnet for smoking out, without further delay, the Commandant of the Osun Amotekun corps, from anywhere he may be hiding.”
It would be recalled that personnel of Osun Amotekun Corps last Tuesday stormed Akinlalu community and allegedly killed four people.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has confirmed that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has taken over the case, adding that five suspects have been apprehended.
