Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged the newly sworn-in members of the National Youth Service Corps in the state to leave lasting footprints of service in the communities where they will be posted.

Adeleke stated this on Friday at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream II orientation course at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State.

Represented by Moshood Olagunju, the State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, the governor, charged the corps members to see their mobilisation as a significant milestone in their lives as young graduates and Nigeria’s future leaders.

Adeleke maintained that the NYSC scheme remained one of the most enduring legacies of Nigeria.

He governor enjoined the corps members to see themselves as ambassadors of unity, progress, and peace.

He said, “The NYSC Scheme remains one of the most enduring legacies of our national history. For over five decades, it has served as a unifying platform, bringing together young Nigerians from different ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds to live, train, and serve together. This has greatly strengthened our bonds of unity and fostered national development.

“This orientation course marks the beginning of your service year, and I urge you to take it very seriously. The activities lined up for you are not mere formalities. They are deliberate efforts to prepare you for the responsibilities of nation-building. As you commence this journey, I enjoin you to see yourselves not only as corps members but also as ambassadors of unity, progress, and peace.

“Permit me to remind you that the world is watching you. Your conduct and attitude throughout this service year will reflect not only on you as individuals but also on the institutions you represent and the nation at large. Therefore, be disciplined, resourceful, and committed to the ideals of the NYSC. The service year offers you a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Osun State.

“Whether in education, healthcare, rural development, agriculture, or community service, I encourage you to leave lasting footprints of service in the communities where you will be posted. Make it a point to add value and transform lives wherever you find yourselves. Let this year not just be a year of service, but a year of discovery and impact.”

Earlier, Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, said a total of 1,420 corps members were sworn into the 2025 Batch B Stream II orientation course.
