FG registers 27,000 poor persons for Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme in Osun

A total of 27,000 people in Osun State are to benefit from the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme of the Federal Government, an official said on Thursday.
Idiat Babalola, the Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Federal Matters, made the disclosure at Owode-Ede during a two-day step down training programme organised by the state Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs.
The special adviser said that the beneficiaries were selected without “bias, favour, political affiliation, culture or religion”.
Babalola said that the programme was being coordinated by the office of the Vice President.
She urged local government facilitators to ensure adequate counselling of those selected, to ensure proper utilisation of the fund.
In her address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Omolara Ajayi, said that the scheme was being supported by the World Bank and states to empower one million extremely poor and vulnerable households across the country.
Ajayi, who was represented by the Director, Finance and Administration of the ministry, Kehinde Odediran, said that 12 local government areas in the state had been selected to benefit from the scheme.
Ajayi urged the local government facilitators and stakeholders to contribute their quota to ensuring the success of the state’s social investments programmes, and the cash transfer scheme.
Dr. Lawrence Martins, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, said the Federal Government had concluded plans to support and uplift the poor and vulnerable persons across the country.
