I’m committed to driving positive change in Yorubaland – Oba Abolarin

By Tunde Olamilekan

The Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin has disclosed that he is committed to driving a positive change in Yorubaland and Nigeria.

This was as he equally advised leaders to focus on building a better future for the people by moving beyond outdated practices, history, and embracing the opportunities of the 21st century.

Oba Abolarin said his ongoing mission to support education has been rewarding, noting that he has sent nearly 120 students from disadvantaged backgrounds to various institutions in Nigeria.

The monarch, who stated this in a Facebook post on Sunday, said the initiative was to invest in the future of the younger generation, which can have a lasting impact.

He added that he had worked tirelessly to address the needs of the people across Yorubaland and Nigeria.

Oba Abolarin said, “As the Orangun of Oke-Ila, I’ve dedicated myself to serving our people with passion and commitment, leveraging my background in political science, teaching, lobbying, diplomacy, and law.

“Since 2006, I’ve worked tirelessly to address the needs of our people across Yorubaland and Nigeria.

“My ongoing mission to support education has been rewarding, especially in sending nearly 120 students from disadvantaged backgrounds across the Federal Republic of Nigeria to various universities.

“This initiative invests in the future of our people and can have a lasting impact. Through empowerment initiatives and advocacy interviews on gender and children’s issues, I’m committed to driving positive change.

“Engaging with local media amplifies important issues and promotes awareness, focusing on DEVELOPMENT RATHER THAN IRRELEVANT MATTERS.

“As a Yoruba monarch in the 21st century, I recognize the importance of making history and culture dynamic and relevant. By embracing progress and innovation, we can ensure a brighter future for our community and Nigeria.

“With many developmental challenges to address, our leadership and vision are crucial. Let’s focus on building a better future for our people, moving beyond outdated practices, history, and embracing the opportunities of the 21st century. THE FUTURE IS JUST TOO IMPORTANT.”
