A witness at the Osogbo Magistrate court, Pastor Komolafe Joseph, who was invited on the case involving a cleric, Pastor Emmanuel Adedapo aged 49, on the misappropriation of over 4.8 million Naira belonging to the Ti Toluwani multi purpose Cooperative society.
The witness, who is a Treasurer of the cooperative, told the court that his main reason why the case reported was because, Pastor Adedapo, who was said to be the President of the cooperative society, had settled for the use of thugs to threaten the members of the cooperative, instead of settling the issue amicably.
According to him, I refused to record the receipts brought to me by the accused, because the money was not presented.
He said, the cooperative had to report the issue to cooperative commerce and industry to look into the issue.
The witness, presented Receipts of the cooperative and also reports from the cooperative commerce and industry among other evidences showing that the pastor requested for 5 million naira from the corporative.
But, the accused person claimed not to be aware of the evidences, when it was presented before him.
The Osun State Police command had dragged Pastor Emmanuel Adedapo aged, 49, before the magistrate court in Osogbo on the 25th of January, 2016, on a two count charge bothering on manipulation of accounting statements.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Idoko John, had told the court that the clergyman committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 volume ii laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003, for fraudulently converting the cash sum of 4,081,000:00 belonging to Ti Oluwani Multipurpose Cooperative Society on the 9th day of November, 2014.
Counsel to the defendant prayed to the court to grant the accused person, bail on a liberal term, saying his client would not jump bail.
Magistrate Falilat Sodamade granted the prayers of the counsel and the clergyman was admitted to bail in the sum of four million naira with two sureties in the like sum on the 5th day of April, 2016.
However, Magistrate Sodamade Falilat, adjourned the case for further hearing, because the defence Council had notified the persecuting council, Idoko John, that he would not be present in court.The case was adjoined to 23rd of November, this year for further hearing.
