By Mustapha Aleem

Aipat Farms, a large scale fish farm based in Osun State, has raised alarm over the case of some magnet-wielding buyers, who uses magnets to half the weight of fishes before buying them.

The farm, in an Instagram post, stated that the buyers used the magnet on the scale, which was used in measuring the actual weight of about of fishes.

They stated that, “this past weekend some fish buyers used a magnet on our scale to artificially manipulate the weight if the fishes. They ended up paying half of what they bought, leaving us at loss of about one tonne of the goods bought.”

In an interview with osun.life, The Centre Manager, Mr. Segun, narrated that there were about 11 of them who came to their farm on Friday, 7th October, 2016.

He said, they were able to come to the realization that they had been swindled the day after the incident.

But, Mr. Segun said about nine of them had been apprehended by the Awo Police station, along Iwo, Osun State, saying part of what was stolen were refunded by the perpetrators.

He charged other fish farmers to always be at alert whenever they were attending to customers for there are still many other unruly prospective buyers around.
