The former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore has said those calling for the governorship ticket of the party in Osun to go to the West Senatorial District are not being fair.
Omisore said if the APC decides to zone its gubernatorial ticket, Osun East deserved to get the ticket considering the zone had only produced a governor once.
The former deputy governor of Osun State, who stated this while appearing on TVC’s political programme on Thursday, however, said he believes in competency more than anything else.
He said, “Osun East has produced the fewest governors in the state. Central has produced a governor three times, West twice, while Central has only one. Therefore, Osun East is the most qualified for the governorship as we speak.
“I am not even saying this because I’m from the East. That’s a lazy way to approach governance. The best should come forward. That’s why I’m saying I want to compete but when you talk about zoning, it is the turn of Osun East now.”
Speaking on the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Omisore said Osun lacks direction, adding that the governor has failed to complete most of the projects his administration embarked on since he assumed office.
Omisore added, “As we speak today, Osun lacks direction. When you get to the state today, you will see a lot of uncompleted projects. A governor who started work almost three years ago has more than 98 percent of projects uncompleted. How do you explain seriousness in that one?”
