Planned Protest: Adeleke warns students against politicization of developmental matters

•Says phase 1 of Ada-Ire road completed, phase 2 to commence soon

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has warned students against actions that may undermine the peace and progress of the state.

This was as he told them to avoid politicization of a purely developmental matter which is already receiving the attention of the state government.

The warning came amidst the planned protest by the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council, Osun Axis, over the deplorable condition of Ada-Iree road in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

According to the student body, the road, which links the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, according to the students, has become a threat to the life and safety of those plying it.

But the governor in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, noted that work is ongoing on the road in phases, adding that the second phase of the road will soon commence to ensure early completion of the entire stretch of the road.

Adeleke, who lauded the campus groups and the Osun state chapter of the National Association of Osun Students (NAOS), assured them that the administration will soon host a stakeholders’ conference where positive development in the state will be discussed.

He, however, cautioned against “any actions that may undermine the peace and progress of the state, reminding them of the need to avoid politicization of a purely developmental matter which is already receiving the attention of the state government.

“Our administration is delivering on good governance across the sectors and we appreciate the support of all sections of the Osun society. We must, however, avoid falling into the trap of desperate politicians who are hell bent on causing mayhem in Osun state”, the statement concluded.
